Found on AberStreets/AlexandraRoad opposite AberBars/Wetherspoons and next to AberBars/LordBeechings
I've been there on several occasions but I can remember nothing about this place, so I was either too drunk to remember it or is was entirely indistiguishable from all the other bars I've forgotten.
Either way doesn't give me much reason to go again.
Run by local landlord, Mike Fisher.
Used to be a nice quiet hotel bar until it was refurbished in around 1998/99. Was where aber's oldest soc the Elizabethan Madrigal Singers (MADs) used to meet after practise to drink and continue singing.
It wasn't just the MADs who used to sing in there - often you'd find groups of drunken Welsh students being nationalistic in 3 or 4 part harmony...
It was also the haunt of CompSoc during 1996/97 (my first year --Dyn).
What made this bar special was the cocktails, I seem to remember there were about a dozen to choose from. The killer being the Deathstar. I'm sure there's a good few stories to be written about those days.
Sadly, after refurbishment, it tried to entice students with its wooden floor and echoy loud music, making all conversation impossible. The range of cocktails was also extended to some stupid number, and I don't know of anyone who has tried them all. I don't know if any of the new ones are any good either.
Example of a good bar ruined IMHO.
