AberCU = Aberystwyth Christian Union

Presumably protestant, as there is a seperate Catholic society and Methodist society.

Although they claim to be a union, I don't think they go on strike. - Union not just about striking especially in this case, but actually about getting together to encourage one another in our walk with Christ

Currently responsible for an aggresive anti-science campaign on Aberystwyth's campus which enrages Ultima.

Holds some strange beliefs.

1. There is one God in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

How does that fit in with "You shall have no other gods before Me", which one? Doesn't that seem a bit schizophrenic?

- My opinion is that (as a Christian) God is one, but he has three different forms, which i think relate to the different purposes, God is the father and creator, Jesus is the human form who came to earth, Holy Spirit is the encourager and since Jesus' ascension he acts in us, encouraging us and strengthening us.

2. God is sovereign in creation, revelation, redemption and final judgement.

3. The Bible, as originally given, is the inspired and infallible Word of God. It is the supreme authority in all matters of belief and behaviour.

"As originally given", so in Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek with the bits that the church removed?

- The bible was written over many years hence the different languages, and surely if it is God breathed wouldn't he know what bits were relevant or not? Therefore, just because bits have been cut out does not mean it is just as worthy and God inspired.

4. Since the fall, the whole of humankind is sinful and guilty, so that everyone is subject to God's wrath and condemnation.

What's the point then?

- God created us so that we could have a relationship with him, he loves us, he cant get enough of us, therefore, he wants to set us right again, and he did through the cross. Those who accept this fact are no longer subject to God's wrath because their sin is forgiven once they repent, therefore there is a point to Christianity.

5. The Lord Jesus Christ, God's incarnate Son, is fully God; he was born of a virgin; his humanity is real and sinless; he died on the cross, was raised bodily from death and is now reigning over heaven and earth. 6. Sinful human beings are redeemed from the guilt, penalty and power of sin only through the sacrificial death once and for all time of their representative and substitute, Jesus Christ, the only mediator between them and God.

Jesus is a mediator, but point belief number one says Jesus is God, so Jesus talks to himself on the behalf of sinners?

7. Those who believe in Christ are pardoned all their sins and accepted in God's sight only because of the righteousness of Christ credited to them; this justification is God's act of undeserved mercy, received solely by trust in him and not by their own efforts.

That could be a great way of reducing the prison population, let out all the Christians.

8. The Holy Spirit alone makes the work of Christ effective to individual sinners, enabling them to turn to God from their sin and to trust in Jesus Christ. 9. The Holy Spirit lives in all those he has regenerated. He makes them increasingly Christlike in character and behaviour and gives them power for their witness in the world.

So those who are particularly regenerated by the holy spirit will behave as Christ did? So they'd be willing to die for our sins?

- Christians arent asked to die for sin, Jesus did that! The grip of sin upon people can now be removed because Jesus who was innocent was a sacrifice which meant that all our sin was laid on him and conquered when he died and rose again... so why would we do the same thing again? Christians' mission is now to tell people this news and to give them hope in Jesus and to give them the chance to have a relationship with him. 10. The one holy universal church is the Body of Christ, to which all true believers belong.

What?

- The body of Christ is about us working for God, we are now representing him by following him and living through him and showing people him by the things we do. We all have our different gifts too, such as prophesy, evangelism, hospitality and so on... we all fit together, doing different roles, like body parts have different roles to do and all the parts compliment one another and help the body to function. This is the same for the church hence the term "Body of Christ"

11. The Lord Jesus Christ will return in person, to judge everyone, to execute God's just condemnation on those who have not repented and to receive the redeemed to eternal glory.

I guess he's coming soon, like the testimonies on the website
