German beers to which I have been introduced so far include.
Helles and Weissbier. Both are served chilled in their own special glass.
Helles is closer to boring lagers. Served in 0.5L or 1L quantities as from what I can tell are most German beers.
Weissbier is a wheat beer and is quite strange from your boring commercial beer because it is cloudy even though it's served in a long thin glass you cannot see the far side of the glass. It tastes unlike any lager I have ever drunk and instantly appealed to me being almost very slightly sweet.

Weissbiers afaik come in three (or more) types (spelling errors may abound):
- Krisstal - Not cloudy, clear (as the name suggests).
- Standard (or whatever its called)
- Dunkel - Darker than normal Weissbier.
Aimaz can make a better job of explaining this than me as he has first hand access. Personally I prefer standard Weissbier.

So a few months later I'm no a GermanBeer professional, here are my MustTry beers.
- AugustinerHelles
- ErdingerWeißbier - Available in Aberystwyth.
- PaulanerWeißbier
- FranziskanerWeißbier
I reccomend you stay away from SpatenBrau as unless you're american, it's not nice, it's the beer they serve in PizzaHut !
These girls however, appear to be enjoying it.
