A person may be described as unhelpable in a few situations. Including but not limited to.
1 - Stress is greater than the emotional reward
When the stress incurred in helping someone becomes so great that you can no longer think straight. A solution becomes impossible to reach because of the endless barriers thrown up at you. What should be a simple matter of a bit of advice turns into a lengthy explanation of the entire subject, in the end you've given out all you know on the subject and still the Unhelpable's problem isn't solved. It is very frustrating as you've perhaps helped lots of other people before with exactly the same problem.
2 - The Unhelpable is so because they are incapable of helping themselves
A drunkard who does not wish to stop drinking is unhelpable See also: Aneurin. In the same way someone who wishes to do technical things without understanding is unhelpable.

An example of an Unhelpable person.
1: How do I make CDs? 2: What OS are you using? 1: Lunix 2: Okay, you'll need the cdrecord software and the ide-scsi module because cdrecord doesn't work with ide devices directly. 1: what's a module? 2: a module is a dynamically loaded driver. 1: what does dynamic mean? 2: hmm, just install cdrecord and ide-scsi 1: I already have cdrecord 2: so install ide-scsi 1: what is ide? 2: it's a kind of interface that your cd writer is plugged into 1: oh, how do you know? 2: because you have a cheap computer and there is no way you'll have a SCSI cd drive 1: is scsi the same as SCSI 2: yes 1: but you said cdrecord doesn't work with ide devices, what am I supposed to do now? 2: install ide-scsi 1: how?
and once you get to the "how?" question you realise this will continue for a long time until one or both parties involved become so exhausted they give up.
Nonsense - that is not unhelpable - that is someone who wants to fully understand everything before they progress to the next stage. They are meticulous, not unhelpable.
I agree! This is not an example of someone being unhelpable, but the helper is being fairly unhelpful! Unhelpable is when the person doesn't even want to know about what they are doing and still fails. They just want you to fix it or do their work for them (via MSN), but are too lazy or stupid to even work out the simplest of steps you didn't explicitly mention! Then paste in loads of smilies and say OK I GET IT NOW, when they realize you are only going to help them and not do something for them. Unhelpables usually then come back a month later and ask the same question again, or a question which you know means they only just got on to the next problem e.g. the next trivial line of code, which you explained previously anyway. Unhelpable is:
<me> Install ide-scsi
<them> uhhh i'll just reboot into windows lol
See For Examples: Dreamaker, M0ng (only whilst m0nged :-), Spectre (when he is high or drunk in HP office)
The brain of an UnHelpable looks something like this:
If you find you've been rendered unhelpable, it could be because you're asking the question in the wrong way.

<gloomy> wow, i've been on technical support lines for 4 hours on the national rate!
<tori> hahahaha, watch yourself cookie, comments like that will get you labelled "unhelpable" for life and even possibly the afterlife.
<gloomy> but i fixed it!
<tori> okay, you are REALLY not helping yourself here....
<gloomy> why?
3 - The Unhelpable is so because they are not worth helping
Some are so beyond useless that helping them is just pointless. These people can never give anything return and the fact that they even exist is mind boggling. I mean if you can't even get half a blowjob out of it or the subject is never going to be able to help anyone else (lets not be selfish here and think of the greater good) why bother.
